LED Mounting Brackets

Depending on your needs, there are many options on where to mount your led lights. Here are some pros and cons of each location:

1. Upper Windshield/Roof Mounted: The top of the windshield is a popular place to mount a light bar because the higher the light is mounted, the farther the LED light can be projected and it allows for a larger light bar. These are typically bars in lengths of 40 inches or longer.
2. Lower Windshield/A-Pillar Mounted: Many offroaders add ditch lights to their vehicles because they are small and easy to install while adding extra light to the side of the road while driving, hence the name ditch lights. These provide extra safety as they illuminate more of the trail while offroading but also work great as close up lighting as many include flood or scene lights, providing extra light for projects like setting up camp for the night.
3. Bumper/Grille Mounted: Most offroad vehicles or aftermarket bumpers have a spot where you can easily add an LED light bar. This gives a very clean look and is usually a preference for those looking to add a stealthy or hidden light bar. Light bars used in the bumper are usually 30 to 32 inches long.

If you choose to forgo hiring a professional, there are some things to consider before mounting a light bar on a car or truck:

1. Choose your mounting location: There are a wide variety of mounting locations to choose from depending on your type of vehicle. Consult the question above and look at your vehicle to find the optimal mounting spot for the required light.
2. Test your Light Bar or Pods: Before installing anything, test that the light bar is working by connecting to a battery, red to positive, black to negative. Connect the light to the wiring harness and test the functions. If you purchased an Extreme harness, the connection on the harness should match your light, If it does not, you may have purchased the wrong harness.
3. Gather the necessary tools: Depending on where you are mounting your light bar, you may need more intricate tools. Make sure you have all of the tools you need before you start the installation.
4. Drill holes (if necessary): Some installs require holes to be drilled prior to installing the mounts. Check the details for your mounts to see if drilling is required or not.
5. Mount and Wire Light Bar: Mount the light bar in the desired location (this may be easier to do before or after wiring depending on where you are installing). Run the connection to the light. If installing switches, run the switches through the firewall to the desired location. Connect the wiring harness to the battery and you are done!
